People in Yoron has a custom to welcome guests to pass a glass full of shochu, and the hosts and the guests should finish the glass. This custom brings the guest closer to the host - but pay caution not to drink too much!

Mozuku-soba(Seaweed noodles)
This is a noodle made with seaweed paste. It has a unique smell, and a great taste. “Mozukusoba” has a tougher texture than other noodles. There are a variety of toppings served with “Mozuku-soba”, such as fish and seaweed.

Mozuku-somen (Another kind of seaweed noodles)
Mozuku seaweed with dipping sauce, in the "somen" noodle fashion. Enjoy the chewy and slippery taste.

Local Fish
There are lots of fish around Yoron, including tuna and mahimahi. Also, there are swordfish and diamond-squid. In Yoron, raw fish is served with vinegar and soy sauce.

Goya Champuru
This an Okinawa-origin dish popular in Yoron. Pork, tofu and Cinese chives are added to bitter melon (goya), then fried. It is good for summer heat.

Puchimucha
Mugwort rice cake. This is a popular snack among all generations.

It is a sort of doughnut. A snack that is crunchy on the outside and soft inside.

This is a ginger ale made from local spicy ginger. Refreshing drink.

An alcoholic beverage that is an essential part of Yoron culture. Good as a souvenir.
