An island of World Natural Heritage status
Yakushima Island is listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site for its unique ecosystem. About 20% of the island is designated as such, from the central part of the island where Jomonsugi Cedar is to the western part of the island through which the Seibu Rindo (West Forest Trail) road passes. Having mysterious virgin forests and a diverse range of peculiar ecosystems, it is referred to as the Galapagos of East Asia. You can enjoy various eco-tours in this nature treasure trove.

ユネスコの世界自然遺産に登録されて一躍脚光を浴びた屋久島は、日本の様々な機関からもその豊かな自然が“一流”と認められている。原生林が生い茂る森で澄んだ空気を深く吸い込み、樹齢数千年の屋久杉の鼓動に耳を傾け、雨量を誇る島ならではの豪快な滝の前でマイナスイオンをたっぷり浴びる。そんな時間をかけた贅沢な旅がよく似合う。
