The festival is held to thank the gods for the hot springs that well up everywhere in Ibusuki and pray they will never dry up.
This festival is held over 2 days, with "Hanya Odori" dance and Japanese drum performance on the first day, and the parade of portable shrines and a fireworks display on the second day.
