Café Sakura no Yakata
(岩屋公園 caféサクラノヤカタ)
Enjoy a relaxing tea time while gazing at a Japanese garden
Café Sakura no Yakata is a Japanese-style café in Iwaya Park.
The café is on the first floor of a graceful building dotted with decorations utilizing the same techniques as Kawanabe's famous family Buddhist altars.
On the second floor is a gallery/observation deck from which you can gaze on a Japanese garden and a striking Buddha image carved into a rock face.
The Sanskrit characters carved along with the Buddha are written as latte art in a cappuccino called the Bonccino, one of the café's most popular items.
Please also sample the various seasonal offerings, such as Ichigo Daifuku (chewy rice cake stuffed with strawberry and sweet red bean paste) in strawberry season and Special Shaved Ice in summer.
