Gintei, in Amami Oshima’s busiest night district, Yanigawa-dori, is a place to enjoy local Amami dishes while enjoying island music and hachigatsu-odori festival dancing. The chef’s choice course includes local island ingredients such as mozuku seaweed, shellfish, Japanese tiger prawns, pork miso, handama (Okinawan spinach) with sesame, and squid ink soup. After enjoying the meal and island music, you can receive a short intro to island dances from the staff, before trying to dance along yourself.
