Sarukawa Banyan Tree
（猿川ガジュマル）
This Sarukawa Banyan tree is one of the many unique trees of universal natural value on Yakushima. Located in the middle of a thick, subtropical jungle, the stunning tree is more than 100 years old. Its roots and branches stretch over an area of about 100sqm. Though only about five minutes’ walk from a parking lot, the area around the Sarukawa Banyan tree is quiet, allowing visitors to drink in the tranquil environment, which is overflowing with life.
