Nagashima Museum
(長島美術館)
Appreciate artistic masterpieces as well as an extraordinary view from this impressively located museum. Surrounded by palm trees, the building sits on top of a large hill overlooking Kagoshima City.
There are around 1,000 exhibits, including paintings and sculptures from Kagoshima-born artist Kuroda Seiki, as well as global impressionist painters like Chagall, Renoir and Rodin. Other displays include prehistoric art from South America, and a collection of Satsuma ware, a type of local pottery.
