Kagoshima Prefectural Museum
(鹿児島県立博物館)
This natural history museum showcases the abundant natural wonders in Kagoshima, a prefecture that stretches 600 kilometers (373 miles) north to south. Its exhibits are spread across the main building and the Hozan Hall Annex.
In the main building, the first floor houses entrance exhibits, displays on animal breeding and special exhibitions. On the second floor is an introduction to Kagoshima’s nature and a discovery room offering hands-on learning experiences. An insight into how nature is harnessed for prefectural industry can be found on the third floor, along with a 3D theater and learning information room.
A planetarium, constellation exhibit and dinosaur fossil exhibit are located on the fourth floor of the Hozan Hall Annex.
