On the south side of Amami Oshima a grand forest of virgin mangrove trees streaches across a wide area.
The place you can experience paddling a canoe through that virgin forest is at the Kuroshio no Mori Mangrove Park.
A tour guide will show you how to paddle and explain the ecology of the mangroves while guiding you through the forest.
